MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies with rains are expected over many parts of the country on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmosphericwinph, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In a 4 a.m. weather forecast, state weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported that the northeast monsoon or amihan will affect Northern Luzon, while the intertropical convergence zone will continue to affect Mindanao.

“Today, the winds are relatively strong due to the northeast monsoon. Cloudy skies with rains are expected over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and the province of Aurora,” Aurelio explained in Filipino.

“The intertropical convergence zone will continue to affect a huge part of Mindanao. The entire Mindanao region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms,” he added.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Aurelio said the northeast monsoon is expected to intensify over the next three days, impacting a significant portion of Luzon, including Metro Manila.

No gale warning was raised by Pagasa in any of the country’s seaboards on Tuesday morning.

However, Aurelio advised residents of Northern Luzon to still exercise caution as moderate to rough sea conditions, with wave heights ranging from 2.1 to 4 meters, are expected along the region’s coastal waters.
